Happy Days

Peter got to come home early yesterday. It was awesome. He'd been working about 9(am) to 1(am) all the rest of the week. We decided to go hiking. We were all dead tired so it was kind of a funny thing to decide to do, but it was fun. Benton and Mima fell asleep on the way there and Benton really, really didn't want to wake up when we got there. I have to say it's so much more fun to hike when you can go a normal speed rather than waiting for someone who is barely walking.

We almost always go to the same spot to hike. At first we stuck to the paved path but lately we've branched off to the dirt path. We went farther than we had been on our hike before. It's so nice to go hiking and not worry about the destination, just the walking along feeling moss and looking at sparkly rocks. It's pretty up there with some of the trees barely budding. It's still a little brown, but you can see further because all the trees don't have leaves on them. I really like the trail because it's cooler because it's next to the river most of the time and there's shade.

We went back on Saturday with Monica and made it even further. We figure it was probably 2/3 mile one way, which doesn't seem like a lot, but the kids did it all themselves and I was impressed. They liked looking at everything and recognizing the places we'd been before. Fun times.
