Happy Birthday Dear Peter

Yesterday was Peter's birthday.
I made him a cake.

It started out as a penguin on a block of ice in the ocean.

Due to some unforeseen events (like the cake falling apart),

it turned into penguin remains left over after a sea lion attack.

The candles were in binary (that's why there's only two).
Happy birthday, Peter.

Poop poop everywhere

I just changed the poopiest diaper I've ever seen. Actually, the diaper wasn't bad, but I had to wipe poop off Brita's shoulders and armpits and everywhere between there and her bum. Nasty.

In other news, I still haven't cleaned up from FYFD. All I have to do is wash some forks, but that seems a little time intensive, don't you think?

Peter was supposed to have a job interview this morning but they never e-mailed him the details. The lady that was supposed to e-mail flew to Rexburg and was never heard from again. If she ever comes back she's supposed to call to reschedule.

Have I mentioned lately how cute Brita is? I love it when she raises her eyebrow. Maybe I'm just jealous that she's been able to do something from two days old that I've never been able to do. She also frowns really really deep. It's cute--she almost looks like a puppet when she does.

And I think that's all.

FYFD PARTY

Well, our FYFD festivities started off with some good, old-fashioned duck riding.

During the hectic party preparations, I managed to find time to make a onesie (out of my old FYFD shirt) for Brita.

It helped having Sherry (a highly esteemed yet lovingly down-to-earth co-founder), Stephen, and Skyler come early and help with the decorations. We had lots of friends come, all bearing fluorescent yellow food. All that food helped contribute to making it one phenomenal party.

We played Frazzle, which, you should know, has yellow words on the box and a bright yellow-ish mallet. Brita was very good-natured during both the preparation and the party and hung out quietly with people she never met before.

(Sorry about the blurry pictures)

We're already looking forward to next year and the fluorescent yellow food that awaits.

Congratulations

Someone with a name very similar to mine recently graduated from the University of Illinois. Congratulations, Andrea. I wish it could have been me.

Some things just need to be done

Like waking up at 3 in the morning to study for a test so you can also do everything else that needs done that day. Or staying up taking pictures of your really cute daughter just because she's cute and smiling.

I think the camera makes her sick

Right before she spit up this morning.

Right before she spit up this afternoon.

A new game

Peter and Brita invented the new kissing fist game. Brita would hold out her fist and Peter would try to kiss it. It was a bit of a moving target, although it's not like she was running around or anything. The pictures don't really capture it all that well, but it made Brita really happy when she played it.

Paper cuts

So I think it'd been over two years since I got a paper cut. The last one I remember was at the U of I. But I just got one. And it hurts really bad.

Don't worry--more pictures of Brita will be posted tonight. I have a blog so you can hear all my stories, but I know it's Brita that keeps bringing you back.

A little bit of a rant

So, you know how the ceiling was leaking in my living room? Just pretend you do. My landlady came over yesterday and asked to see the stove. I told her to come in and look at the stove. She told me that they were going to be replacing it with an electric stove because of course ALL gas stoves leak carbon monoxide and why on earth would they just replace it with a new gas stove. Although to replace it with a electric stove a guy will have to come out and rewire the house. A guy who is very busy, but will try to fit us in sometime. So maybe someday we'll get a new stove.

Also while the landlady was here, she looked at the ceiling.
Her comment was--"wow, it's crazy where water will travel--I can't believe that's from the door."
Me: "Um, it's not from the door--there's a tear in the roof."
Landlady: "Oh no there's not. We just replaced the roof."
Me: "No, there's a tear in the roof. It's right up there and it leaked across my entire living room."
Landlady: "There's not a tear--the roof is less than nine months old."
Me: "There is a tear. It leaked through the roof right there and the repairman said he was going to come back and fix it."

She finally agreed that there was a tear in the roof. But for pity sakes, why would I lie about a thing like that? I don't get why I would have to try so hard to convince her of something so obvious. I was so annoyed. I hate being called a liar.

Since I'm posting pictures of my dirty house

I thought I'd show you one of my living room right now.
This is now outdated because water started dripping on our piano just after this picture was taken and now our piano is in front of our bathroom door. (The piano is okay, I think.) Fun stuff. I don't know if you can see the drips on the ceiling or not but they're there. I complained enough this time that a guy is here looking at the leak. (Well, actually he's just shoveling snow off our roof right now, but hopefully he'll get around to looking at the leak.)

Boo

Peter has been teaching Brita to sneak up on me and scare me. Yesterday I was cooking dinner in the kitchen and turned around to see this...She was about to get me again.

Team BAD

Last night for FHE we played the Farming Game. Brita and Peter were on one team and I was the other. We didn't finish the game, but so far they're creaming me. It seems like Brita only knows how to roll sixes when it comes to harvesting. Here's a picture of them the first time Brita won them over 10K in one turn. It think it was on hay, too. It was a sad game.

Hopefully we'll be able to finish the game sometime. I have a feeling that team BAD will continue to beat me soundly.
